Queen Anne Elementary is The New Name for Old John Hay

Queen Anne Blog:  Queen Anne Seattle School Update:

The Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle just had Old John Hay renamed to Queen Anne Elementary as reported by the Seattle Times. According to the Times, Queen Anne Elementary will reopen as an option school. The school originally opened in 1905 and has a long history in the Queen Anne neighborhood.  It is one of Seattle's oldest schools and luckily got some love and care after falling into complete disrepair.   Today, it is a gorgeous focal point in the neighborhood - you can find it at 411 Boston St. on Queen Anne Hill.

About Me:

Seattle real estate has been a big part of my life for well over a decade since I began my career in real estate, but also before that time when I was in the process of purchasing my own first home.  Buying your first home can be quite overwhelming, but I have managed to help many first time home buyers along the way.

Move up Seattle buyers and other types of specialized purchasing is a great passion of mine!  I love Seattle houseboats and you can find me down on the docks of Lake Union and Portage Bay several times a week.   Other aspects of Seattle real estate that I adore include Queen Anne Real Estate,Wallingford Real EstateBallard Real EstateGreen Lake Real EstateLaurelhurst Real EstateMagnolia Real Estate, andSeattle Waterfront Real Estate.

In addition to being a Seattle residential broker and founder of Cooper Jacobs & Seattle Afloat, I am also a member of CBA (Commercial Brokers Association) and head of the Cooper Jacobs Commercial Division in an effort to provide excellent commercial real estate services to the Seattle commercial real estate industry.  With a background in accounting and management, it is my great pleasure to coordinate our Seattle commercial brokers.

Great write up Courtney!  I'm thrilled the Seattle Public School system has choosen to renovate some of our older schools in the area.  McDonald School (k-5) in the Wallingford/Green Lake district will be open this Fall 2010 after 7 years of dormacy.

Wow, that's some interesting information, how does the John Hay family feel about this name name change?

Jim - John Hay definitely has historical significance - this school is a Queen Anne neighborhood landmark - really cool  - glad it is fixed up and goging to open again.

Hi Molly - me too:)  You should write that one up!

Thanks Ray:)

Sonny  - I think John Hay was a secretary of state and national figure  - there seems to be a lot of John Hay schools around and in fact there is another one right up the street from this one so I think they might be fine.  John Hay on Garfield is different than this one. Both on Queen Anne:)
